DigniCap
Chemotherapy may destroy your cancer, but it doesn’t have to destroy
Hair loss is no longer inevitable.
Are you concerned about hair loss while undergoing chemotherapy? Chemotherapy-induced hair loss doesn’t have to be inevitable! At AO Multispecialty Clinic, we provide the latest technology and resources to help our patients’ fight against cancer in all areas of their lives. We’re excited to now offer the DigniCap® Scalp Cooling System for our patients. DigniCap actually helps prevent hair loss as a result of chemotherapy drugs. It’s an option for patients receiving chemotherapy to treat solid tumors for breast, prostate, uterine, ovarian, and lung cancers.
What Is DigniCap?
DigniCap is, quite simply, a cooling system for your scalp. The cooling cap is attached to a computerized cooling unit and is designed to be worn comfortably on your head. Coolant flows continuously through the cap’s carefully designed channels to keep the temperature perfectly regulated. This continuous, cool temperature on your scalp is the key to the system’s effectiveness.

How It Prevents Hair Loss
In addition to destroying cancer, chemotherapy drugs can also destroy healthy cells. This includes your hair cells. Eventually, the body’s hair begins to fall out. However, by cooling your scalp with DigniCap, you can help reduce chemotherapy-induced hair loss.
Thousands of patients around the world have successfully used this system. So how exactly does the DigniCap work? Firstly, the cooling process reduces blood flow to the scalp area. Next, the lowered scalp temperature reduces the body’s metabolism. These reactions combined causes the scalp’s normal cellular activity to slow dramatically.
Clinical Research
The DigniCap Scalp Cooling System has been studied on breast cancer patients at some of the most prestigious medical centers in the nation. In its trial, the system prevented hair loss in 66.3% of patients receiving chemotherapy. The control group, however, experienced significant hair loss.
